The concept behind both properties is breathtaking — guests staying in savanna-view rooms can observe live African wildlife grazing, sleeping, and roaming just outside their windows and balconies at any hour of the day or night. This is not a curated show or a brief encounter; it is an immersive, ongoing experience with over 30 species of African animals and birds visible from the resort grounds. The Animal Kingdom Villas are located adjacent to Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park in the southwestern portion of Walt Disney World property. Disney buses are the primary mode of transportation, connecting the resort to all four theme parks and Disney Springs. The Animal Kingdom park itself is the closest theme park, reachable by bus or even walkable in a relatively short time from certain areas of the property. Bus service to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios takes somewhat longer than from resorts closer to those parks, and guests should factor in additional travel time when planning early morning park arrivals. There is no monorail or Skyliner access from this resort. The somewhat remote location on property is a trade-off that most guests who choose this resort willingly accept in exchange for the extraordinary savanna experience. Guests driving to the parks should note that this resort's location makes it particularly convenient for Animal Kingdom visits and reasonably convenient for Hollywood Studios.

The theming at both Jambo House and Kidani Village is executed at the highest level of Disney Imagineering craft. The lobbies of both buildings feature soaring thatched-roof architecture inspired by the great lodges of East Africa — the kind found in locations like the Maasai Mara or the Serengeti. Hand-carved wooden artifacts, genuine African art pieces, vibrant woven textiles, and hand-painted murals cover every surface. The scale of the main lobby at Jambo House is jaw-dropping, with an enormous carved wooden chandelier, multiple levels of open balcony space, and a constant gentle presence of African ambient music. Kidani Village has a slightly more intimate feel, with its own beautiful lobby and savanna access. Cast members in African-inspired attire are part of the cultural ambassadors program, and Swahili phrases appear throughout the resort's signage and design. Both Jambo House and Kidani Village offer a range of accommodations, with the critical distinction of savanna view versus standard view options.
